Veteran Central

Putting Veterans and Families First

ANZAC House Veteran Central (AHVS) is the first of its kind in Australia – a specialised one-stop facility that puts Defence veterans and their families first, with all their needs met under one roof.

You will find medical, mental health and dental practitioners, counselling, advocacy services, welfare assistance, aged-care support, wellbeing programs, transitionary assistance, employment support, conferencing facilities, places to just chill out and socialise, including our new ANZAC Club, plus hireable function spaces for your special-events needs.

This facility was purpose-built to make the lives of veterans and their families easier. We felt it was time to put the needs of those who were willing to sacrifice everything for this great country first.

There are four crucial pillars of service delivery, which are:

Health and Wellbeing

Veteran Central offers medical services from GP consultations to day-surgery; dental care, psychiatric and psychological consults, hearing and skin checks, health education and training, and other mental and allied health services and wellness programs.

Advocacy and Welfare

Our Advocacy and Welfare professionals are here to offer counsel, guidance and assistance on a range of issues, including free financial counselling.

Transition

For an estimated 5,500 ADF personnel a year, it involves the shift from active duty to civilian life. Sometimes, this can pose many challenges for the men and women who have served in the Australian Defence Force. This can be service-related issues such as chronic ill health, post-traumatic stress (related to war or service trauma), anxiety, chronic pain or depression. As more serving men and women transition, Veteran Central is addressing these issue with a range of support mechanisms and tailored programs.

Employment

RSLWA is working with other employment consultants to partner with potential employers and provide the skills and support to Veterans to be job-ready. Secure and meaningful, long-term employment is critical to the family unit, the individual and for ongoing good mental health. With collaboration and a focus to the individual Veteran’s needs, Veteran Central can assist in liaising with frontline providers across government, industry, the commercial sector and communities to link Veterans to jobs.

ANZAC House is also home to ANZAC Club, ensuring our ex-servicemen and women stay socially engaged and connected, within a community that understands them.
