Conducting a Commemorative Service
Commemorative services have a strict order of conduct.
The outline for a commemorative ceremony is listed below.
Flags are to be lowered to half-mast before the commencement of the ceremony.
- Introduction/Welcome
- Catafalque party mounts (if applicable)
- Hymns or other music (optional)
- Prayers and readings (optional)
- Commemorative address
- Wreath Laying
- The Ode
- The Last Post
- One Minute’s Silence
- The Rouse
During the playing of The Rouse, flags are to be raised slowly to the masthead.
- National anthem/s
- Catafalque party dismounts (if applicable)
- Closing Remarks
