ANZAC House Demolition
Tuesday 19 sep 2017
The high-rise building is almost gone.
As pedestrians walk down St Georges Terrace they cannot help but notice something has changed.
A lawyer, pushing his reference books and warrants and in his black robe takes a quick glance at an excavator which seems absurdly perched above him. The black fence around the site gives the impression of levitation as it conceals the tonnes of concrete the machine is balanced on.
The excavators have now won this fight, they now stand on top of a building which at one stage dwarfed them when this process began months ago.
The building has now succumbed.
The hydraulic excavators, both of which weigh in excess of 30 tonnes each come with specialised hydraulic attachments including a rock breaker and a concrete pulveriser.
