The Invictus Games are an initiative of His Royal Highness Prince Harry of Wales.
It has been a busy week for Richard Wassell of Rossmoyne who is currently competing at the Invictus Games in Toronto.
Before he had even left for Canada (flying out from Sydney) he made an appearance on Channel Nine's Today Extra program and was seen right around Australia speaking about his involvement in the Invictus Games.
Richard competes in both indoor rowing and athletics. He's relatively new to athletics competition but he currently holds three world records in indoor rowing.
In athletics competition Richard missed out on the 100m final by one place. He was 8th in the 200m final, 6th in the 400m final and 3rd in the 4x100m 'B' final.
Richard Joined the Navy 1992 as an Electronics Warfare Submariner before discharging in 1996, after suffering a stroke on board HMAS Ovens.
He is a member of the Riverton RSL Sub-Branch.
The Invictus Games runs until September 30.
