Both Dawesville and Mandurah Sub-Branch Presidents were present.
The Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) visited the Mandurah War Memorial.
The Governor-General laid a Wreath of Remembrance at the Memorial before inspecting the memorials interactive audio console with Dawesville RSL Sub-Branch President, Stan Davies; City of Mandurah RSL Sub-Branch President, Brian Dillon and City of Mandurah Mayor, Marina Vergone.
In a Facebook post, the Governor-General remarked on his time in Mandurah over the weekend.
“Mandurah is a community where people in that great Aussie way freely give their time and experience to help each other, and it was great to meet many of them who are making a difference,” His Excellency said.
A bench located at the Mandurah War Memorial contains an inbuilt push-button audio unit.
Visitors to the Memorial can select a range of stories which enriches the experience of the site. Topics include the ANZAC story, the Mandurah ANZAC story and the home front.
