The Returned & Services League of Australia WA Branch (RSLWA) has appealed to West Australians to give generously to help support the welfare and well-being of our veterans.
The 2018 ANZAC Appeal hits the streets on Friday 20 April between 7:30 am and 2:00 pm with a goal to see former and current service personnel and their families receive the support services they need.
RSLWA Chief Executive Officer, John McCourt said that, in tough times, some veterans find themselves in financial difficulty and in social isolation.
“With the generous support of West Australians we are able to move quickly to support them for various needs including emergency accommodation, food and the payment of bills,” Mr McCourt said.
The ANZAC Appeal is already well underway with responses through social media showing the WA community is well aware of the importance of money being raised for veterans through donations.
Every year volunteers and Defence Force Personnel meet in the city to shake a tin in support of veterans and their families. This year forty ANZ Bank employees will be helping RSLWA for the Street Appeal in the CBD.
Mr McCourt said he is very grateful for the assistance from volunteers and of the ANZ Bank in Western Australia.
“I am confident that the Perth community will once again generously support the RSLWA ANZAC Appeal,” he said.
Founded in 1916, the RSL has long been aiding those in need of assistance and each of WA’s 129 Sub-Branches plays an important role within their community.
