RSLWA Backs Nuclear Vet

RSLWA strongly supports efforts by former sailors exposed to nuclear radiation more than 60 years ago, to finally get the coveted DVA Gold Card. RSLWA Chief Executive Officer, John McCourt, said it was time for justice to be afforded to the veterans.

“It certainly looks like the main reason these men have not been afforded the Gold Card is a technicality around dates,” Mr McCourt said. “It’s a travesty they have not been recognised after so many years. It was not their fault they were exposed to radiation during those nuclear tests and they deserve support.”

Mr McCourt said RSLWA fully supported efforts by State Veterans Issues Minister, Peter Tinley, to raise the matter with his Federal counterpart.
