Mr Steven Mott
Mr Steven Mott
Steve is a retired Army Officer who joins the Board of RSL WA following election at the 2025 State Congress. He has been on the Executive Committee of the Busselton (his hometown) Sub-Branch, since June 2022 and is currently in his third term as President.
In his time at the Busselton Sub-Branch, he has overseen the design and construction of the new Busselton War Memorial, that has been the recipient of several awards and was the leader of the team that delivered Busselton with its biggest ANZAC Day on record, with over 10,000 attendees in 2025.
During his over 28 years of service, Steve served in East Timor, as part of INTERFET and UNAMET; in Bosnia and Herzegovina as the 2IC of a British Rifle Company; in Iraq as the senior Joint Terminal Attack Controller of the Al Muthanna Task Group; in the Solomon Islands as a Company Commander, as part of RAMSI; in Afghanistan as a Military Advisor to the United Nations.
Steve holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Arts (Strategy and Management) from the University of New South Wales. He also holds a Graduate Diploma in Defence Studies and is a graduate of the Australian Defence Force Academy, the Royal Military College, Australian Command & Staff College and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
He has been Commended twice: by the NSW Police Force, for spirited civil action in apprehending armed bank robbers; and he has received a Gold Level Commendation from the Chief of Army, for superior performance and achievements as the Staff Officer Grade One, Land Simulation.
Steve is married to Jacinta, who herself is a retired Navy Officer, and they have three adult sons: one is currently serving in the Army, one is a Marine Biologist, and one has no idea what he wants to do. Steve enjoys fishing in the boat, red wine, family dinners and heading out into the bush, gold prospecting.
