Meet-up at Kings Park at the Shrine to do ‘Blue Hour’ and ‘Night’ photography

Come along and learn how to do ‘Blue Hour’ and ‘Night’ Photography at Kings Park overlooking the city.

Sunset is at 17:31 h and Blue Hour is at 17:46 h.

We will meet at The Shrine and spend a couple of hours in that general location.

You will need a tripod - if you don’t have one let me know as I have a few spares, to register please email karlandwendy@bigpond.com

Bring some drinks, snacks and a sense of humour.

Hydrotherapy Class with Avanti Physiotherapy

Have you ever wanted to try a hydrotherapy class? Thanks to the RSL Active program you have the opportunity to participate in three classes over three weeks on 1 May, 8 May and 15 May from 9:00am to 10:00am.

Guided by physiotherapist, Frank Furfaro, the hydrotherapy classes will focus on promoting general good health, range of movement, lower and upper limb strength and cardiovascular fitness through water-based exercise. At a warm 36-37degrees, the pool is an ideal environment to support pain management and promote gentle, comfortable movement. Perfect for all age groups. Please note you must be cleared by a GP or medical professional to participate.

Try wheel-work at ClayMake Studio from 1.30pm on Saturday, 4 May 2024. The class is suitable for total beginners and will be guided by an instructor. There is no limit to how many objects you make; it will depend on your interest and skill level.

Mindfulness Sessions (Online)

RSL Active will be hosting mindfulness sessions online each month to help veterans self-regulate through guided breathing and meditation exercises. Mindfulness offers a powerful escape from the daily grind, helping you wind down after work. The sessions will be facilitated by Andy, who will show you how to reduce stress and cultivate a sense of inner peace.

Online Yoga with Invisible Injuries

Veterans and immediate family can join a free six-week ONLINE beginner-friendly yoga program. Use a personal device to sign-in to classes from anywhere in WA. Online yoga classes provide a gentle and accessible introduction to the fundamental principles and postures of yoga. Participants can learn about the different styles of yoga, basic breathing techniques and key alignment principles which will set you up for a safe and rewarding practice.

Join a six-week beginner-friendly yoga program at Veterans Drop-in Centre, Heathridge Community Centre on Tuesdays at 9:00 am - 10am (1 hour). The classes provide a gentle introduction to the fundamental principles and postures of yoga. Learn about the different styles of yoga, basic breathing techniques and key alignment principles which will set you up for a safe and rewarding practice.

Sessions starting from Tuesday 30 April 2024. The last session in the program will be on Tuesday 4 June 2024.

Equinnect - Equine Assisted Learning

RSL Active has saddled up with Equinnect to offer veterans and their family members a unique opportunity to work with horses.

Located in Gidgegannup, Equinnect provides horse assisted learning to boost self-awareness, connection, confidence and curiosity.

Horse assisted learning teaches you to care and work with horses on the ground and communicate with them. While no horse riding is involved, learning and fun occurs between you and the horse and it also provides best practice and safety for you to ride a horse.

Join the RSLWA Bowls Section at the Yokine Bowls Club each month on a Friday. The season kicks off in September and runs for six months, as well as plays in other lawn bowls events and carnivals held around the Perth metro area.

RSL Active has teamed up with Sailing On to provide opportunities for RSLWA members, their families, veterans and ADF members to learn new skills and be part of a team through the repair and sailing of yachts.

The crew from Sailing On meet at the South of Perth Yacht Club, 1 Coffee Point Road, Applecross, on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 9am until 12pm.
