Why Volunteer?

As a volunteer for RSLWA, you can help Veterans who are in need, uphold the spirit of the ANZACs and take part in many wonderful community events.

Volunteering will allow you to meet many new people, offer meaningful opportunities to utilise your skills and experiences, provide experience to those seeking it and lead to you making a difference in the lives of those who served our country.

Ways to Volunteer

The RSLWA Volunteers for Vets (Vollies for Vets) support us in many ways, working across a variety of themes in various capacities, such as:

Street appeal collections – helping fundraise for the ANZAC and Poppy Appeals

  • ANZAC Day dawn service – event and public information support
  • ANZAC Day Parade – carrying banners and flags for older veterans
  • Knitting beanies for those in need

A large group of our volunteers, fondly known as the Poppy Ladies, have undertaken ongoing work in making knitted poppies which are used throughout the city in various installations for Remembrance Day, including the garden bed around the Flame of Remembrance for the Commemorative Service on 11 November each year.
