The Best Kept Secret in Broome
For more than one hundred years, the Broome RSL Sub-Branch has been a proud and enduring part of the Broome community, supporting veterans, serving members, their families, and the wider public. Situated in the heart of Old Broome, the Club reflects the unique character of the region, combining a strong commitment to remembrance, mateship, and service with the relaxed hospitality for which the Kimberley is renowned.
Unlike many traditional clubs, the Broome RSL offers a distinctive open-air experience that embraces the tropical climate and outdoor lifestyle of Northern Australia. We are open to the environment and open to everyone.
Visitors can enjoy shaded outdoor spaces, warm Kimberley evenings, and a welcoming atmosphere that captures the spirit of Broome. The venue is popular with locals and travellers alike, providing a place to connect, relax, and experience the unique culture and lifestyle of the Kimberley.
Throughout the year, the Broome RSL hosts a diverse range of commemorative, social, and community events, including Broome Strafing, ANZAC Day, Post Vietnam Operational Service, Vietnam Veterans,’ and Remembrance Day services, veteran support activities, live entertainment, community gatherings, and fundraising initiatives. Whether attending a commemorative ceremony, sharing a meal with friends, or simply enjoying the atmosphere under the Kimberley sky, visitors will find a welcoming community hub that continues to play an important role in the social and cultural life of Broome.
Meals are the best value for money in town. You can enjoy a game of social darts, game of pool or bocce. Or just watch the footy in peace. There's also a shaded kids’ playground with an assortment of games to keep the kids occupied whilst mum and dad kick back and relax. We are also pet friendly!
For visitors to the Kimberley, the Club is THE place to recharge before heading out to explore the Kimberley.
Just as Broome is the gateway to the Kimberley, the Broome RSL Sub-Branch is the gateway to the Broome of old.
Sub Branches in wa
RSL Sub-Branches are local, member-based, not-for-profit community groups operating under State Branches of the Returned & Services League (RSL). They serve as vital grassroots hubs that provide a varying range of support services direct to the local community.
These organisations differ in size across Western Australia. Some operate out of local community centres while others provide larger venues with hospitality. Services can include wellbing and welfare support, claims advocacy, and commemorative services for veterans and their families.
RSL Sub-Branches traditionally hold regular meetings for members to discuss matters relevant to the League's mission; enabling WA veterans and their families to thrive. They are operated by elected volunteers consisting of a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Warden.
